Guitar Journey Duet: Giorgio Serci – Spanish Guitar, Jonny Phillips –
Spanish Guitar

Two of Europe’s top guitarists take you on a musical journey following the
development of the acoustic guitar from its origins in Spain and North
Africa along a path throughout Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Born in Sardinia, but resident in London since 1994, Giorgio Serci is an
award-winning guitarist, composer, arranger, and lecturer. He has recorded
and shared stages with Jools Holland, Shirley Bassey, Julian Lloyd Webber,
Kenny Wheeler, Dr John, Martin Taylor, Nigel Kennedy, Andy Sheppard, Bill
Bruford, Paolo Fresu, and the CBS, BBC Concert and Berlin Philharmonic
orchestras among many others. Having gained a MMus in Composition at Surrey
University, he now works blending jazz, classical and world music with
evocative melodies, world grooves and contemporary jazz harmonies.

“Sardinian Guitarist Giorgio Serci’s music is utterly mesmerizing” –
International Guitar Foundation

Jonny Phillips is best known for leading the Latin American-influenced band
Oriole, one of the most accomplished groups on the UK jazz and world music
scenes, which includes cellist Ben Davis, drummer Seb Rochford, saxophonist
Ingrid Laubrock and percussionist Adriano Adewale. He is a founder member of
the F-ire Collective, with whom Oriole has released three critically
acclaimed albums, and has performed with musicians including Arun Ghosh,
Polar Bear, Julia Biel, Roland Gift, and Shabaka Hutchins. His compositions
blend Brazilian rhythms, flamenco, British folk and jazz to electrifying
effect.

“Prolific guitarist-composer Jonny Phillips seems to have tunes coming out
