As part of an Arts Council funded UK tour to visit small rural venues,  acclaimed singer songwriting partnership Kev Minney and Steph Brown will be coming to Eyemouth in April.  Playing music from the new album, the couple will be joined by two excellent string players in what promises to be an evening of original music and superb entertainment. Don’t miss it!

Kev Minney

After years of hard work, fine-tuning, and carving out a name for himself doing what he loves, Kev was invited to New York to record his debut EP titled All You Need (2015). He performed on tour in the USA and the UK then returned to Brighton to pen the songs that formed his debut album Stories of the Sky (2017). Songs from the album were featured in Guitarist Magazine, Acoustic Magazine, and played on BBC Radio.

His second album, Modern Stories, is due to be released February 28th, 2020. Singles from this album have already had radio plays on BBC Radio 6 Music and many more national stations. Both of Kev’s albums were recorded with a Mercury-nominated producer in Brighton, UK. Kev has toured internationally, playing hundreds of shows in some of the UK’s and Europe’s finest venues. His debut album Stories of the Sky has gained over 250,000 streams on Spotify.

‘Beautiful & Intelligent’ – Folk Radio

Steph Brown has created an album of ten stunning, truly original and emotively evoking lyrical songs. The album is a raw and unapologetic confession of the journey from a turbulent childhood, the survival of grief, addiction and neglect to the ‘Surfacing’ from these experiences learning happiness, love and how to navigate the normalities of life. Although emotionally charged the message is an overall positive one of strength and survival through the kindness of others and the acceptance of circumstance.

In its conception, Surfacing was awarded a grant from Arts Council England, and enabled Steph to work with Mercury nominated producer Jag Jago (Maccabees/Florence Welch) and Andrew SB (Lucy Rose). Although this is her debut release, Steph is an experienced performer and renowned for her effortless and intimate performances. She has played some the UK and Ireland’s best venues (Brighton Dome, Scala, Ronnie Scotts) as well as abroad in Europe playing 13 Sofar Sounds events, and in New York at the Rockwood Music Hall. In her home town of Brighton UK she directs large scale sold out events for her release shows, designing and sewing her own theatrical outfits together for her events.
